Gateshead Libraries eBooks service is FREE! All you need is your Gateshead Libraries ticket and PIN. If you do not know your PIN, please contact your local library. You can download up to four books for a maximum period of 21 days.

eBooks are automatically deleted from your eReader at the end of the loan period so you don’t need to worry about overdue charges.

eBooks are compatible with most eReaders. However, the service is not compatible with Amazon’s Kindle. This is because Amazon does not support digital rights management (DRM) on eBooks. DRM is required by publishers who sell their books to libraries and it’s a problem currently faced by all library authorities in the UK. The service should be compatible with the Kindle Fire tablet, though you may have to download a suitable app first e.g. Bluefire Reader app.

Our emagazine service is temporarily unavailable due to an unexpectedly high price increase from our supplier. We are looking in to options to reinstate the magazine service and hope to have things back to normal very shortly. We are very sorry we're not able to offer you e-magazines in the interim.

FREE Audiobooks are available through our service with One Click Digital who provides access to hundreds of titles that may be downloaded onto your phone, MP3 player, iPod or PC.

New titles are added every month, including bestsellers! No waiting lists! No need for reservations!

You can choose up to 10 audiobooks at a time to download. After three weeks the audiobooks are automatically returned. To renew, simply download again.

To access the service you need your library card and PIN. If you do not know your PIN, please contact your local library. Once you have registered and created an account with One Click Digital, you will have instant access to every title within the collection.

How to create an account

Simply go to the One Click Digital website

  • Enter your library card number and make sure you fill in all the boxes
  • Create a username and password which you will use to login in future
  • Once you have created your account each subsequent visit will just require your username and password

It is best to install Media Manager when you create your account although it is still possible to download the software without it.
