Audiobooks

We now have audiobooks available to download through our new service with One Click Digital. Here you can find 24/7 access to hundreds of audiobook titles that you can download onto your phone, MP3 player, iPod or PC. New best selling titles are added every month. No waiting lists, no need for reservations!

You can choose up to 10 audiobooks at a time to download. After three weeks the audiobooks are automatically returned. To renew, simply download again.

To access the service you need to be a member of the library. Once you have registered and created an account with One Click Digital, you will have instant access to every title within the collection.

How to create an account

Simply go to the One Click Digital website

  • Enter your library card number and make sure you fill in all the boxes
  • Create a username and password which you will use to login in future
  • Once you have created your account each subsequent visit will just require your username and password

It is best to install Media Manager when you create your account although it is still possible to download the software without it.

There is plenty of help available within the site. Just click on the Help tab at the top. Use the FAQ’s first to see if your problem is covered.

If you have technical questions, please contact the UK based support team by clicking on the Support tab at the top where there is an online form to complete.

eBooks

Gateshead Libraries also has an e-books service. The service is free. All you need is your Gateshead Libraries ticket and PIN. (If you do not know your PIN, please contact your local library). You can download up to 4 books for a maximum period of 21 days.

E-books are automatically deleted from your e-reader at the end of the loan period so you don’t need to worry about overdue fees.

E-books are compatible with most e-readers. However, the service is not compatible with Amazon’s Kindle. This is because Amazon do not support digital rights management (DRM) on e-books which is required by publishers who sell their books to libraries. This is a problem currently faced by all library authorities in the UK.

eMagazines

The emagazine service is free to all members of Gateshead Libraries. You can download as many of our magazines as you wish to your PC or mobile device and you will automatically be notified when a new issue is ready to download.

How to use the emagazine service

To use the service you will need your library ticket number (starts with dd …) and a current email address.

  • Go to the RB Digital website  at  www.rbdigital.com/gateshead/ and click ‘create an account’. Enter your information.
  • You will be sent an email which will ask you to click on a link. This will activate your account.
  • Log in to your account and click on the magazine that you would like to view.

Just one more little step …

  • You will be taken to the magazine’s landing page on Zinio.com. You must have a separate Zinio account to read and manage your magazines. (Sorry, we know it’s annoying registering twice but it only takes a moment – simply use the same email address and password to register.)
  • Once you have registered you will be able to view your magazine. To add more titles to your library click the ’Return to Library Collection’ tab on your browser and select another title.
