Composers of the North-East

This lecture will be held on the 50th anniversary of the death of Edgar Bainton, who ran the Newcastle Conservatoire from 1912-1934.

The Composers to be discussed include W.G. Whittaker, Arthur Milner, William Shield and Charles Avison.

The talk will be attended by two members of the Edgar Bainton (UK) Society. The BBC has recently recorded Bainton's Third Symphony, which will be released in February 2007.

The talk will be followed by wine and mince pies.
